Friday Fun: Answer Me This ...

As many of you know, I'm an old reporter. (What is the correct term? Former reporter? Recovering reporter? Whatever ...)

Anyway, I think it's fun to ask questions. So here's your creative query for today:

What's the most creative thing you've ever done?

My first thought in answering your question about my most creative activity was writing and recording music.

After grad school, I wrote several songs and recorded them, playing all the parts, on a 4 track recorder. It was a completely new activity, and I did it based on reading about recording and from listening to how songs were put together. Interestingly, I lent the final tapes to someone and don't think there are any mixed copies around.

One of my hopes is to update the equipment and get to do it again. And Jan, maybe you could write the lyrics since none of the songs had any . . .

With a single piece of paper, folded into one of those fortune tellers, I kept a 5-yr old occupied for two hours while waiting at the DMV. You know, the thing that you write colors on the outside flaps, numbers on the inside flaps and then the last chosen flap reveals a prediction. Endless fun!

Both fun comments! And good to hear from both of you!

I'm still mulling over my answer. I made a HeathKit alarm clock for Tom more than 20 years ago that still works. That may be it ... it involved following instructions. soldering, etc. A completely different creative outlet for me. But is that the most creative????? I'm still thinking.

Writing songs to go with all the things I do with the babies throughout the day. I make up songs for diapering, handwashing, etc. The only problem is when one of the older toddlers wants a song repeated and I can't remember the words I made up!!

The most creative thing I have ever done was to start my business. At first, I would say it was starting my blog, but that is something anyone can do. The content, yes, is creative. but starting a business entirely based on creativity is a whole heck of a lot more creative than just writing about it.
