Creative Query: You Ask Me

Can you believe it's almost the end of January all ready?

But, I digress.

For today's creative query, I'm opening the door to your questions. Anything you'd like to ask me?

P.S. Ask questions. All the time. And listen to the answers. It's the fastest way to learn.

Jan -

Here's my question. Do you see a place for what I do on Blog Critics?

I have an opportunity to blog there, but the content appears pretty far afield from where I've been investing time (i.e. can't find something from Brainzooming that works as an initial submission). Maybe in Culture or Sci/Tech, but movies, books, and entertainment criticism seem to take me way off plan.

Your thoughts?

Dear Mike:
After reviewing the site, I says YES. You should be part of a "sinister cabal of superior writers." Technorati (launching pad for Blog Critics) has been useful. And -- and here's the big reason for the YES -- writing for Blog Critics, just once a week, would expand your creative voice.

In other words, it would instigate creativity -- in you, and possibly others.

And you don't have to sign a long-term commitment, so if it's not fun and worthwhile, you can stop!

Thanks for asking,
Jan

P.S. While this is a "You Ask Me" day, if anyone reads the answers and disagrees ... let me know. The fun part of the blog is the dialogue.

(And that last line is as close to a poem as I have for my writer's workshop tonight. AIEEEEE.)

Here's one for you: If you could visit just one blog (or website) each day, what would it be? (Excluding your own and Mike's, of course!)

Hi Leslie:
OK, my new online addiction is ... hate to admit it ... Facebook. And, no, I am not 18. And, no, I am not looking for love. (Well, we're all looking for love, but you know what I mean.)

I have gotten some creative ideas from Facebook. For example, responded to a "list 25 random things about yourself" note, and have a poem in progress.

Other than that, I truly enjoy several of the blogs that I link to on Creative Instigation, especially Whimsy and Rabbit Fumes!

Thanks for asking!

What do you do to start a new day in a happy way, Jane?

Hi Burcu:

That's a fun question. I generally ease into the day, with a good cup of coffee and I sit on the couch with my dog and just pet him for 10 or 15 minutes while I wake up. I used to get up and go to the gym at 5:30 a.m., but I haven't been that disciplined lately ... may get back to it. That really makes you feel like you're starting the day with an accomplishment!
Thanks for asking!
